AGRO-FORESTRY PROGRAM

CleanStar visits potential project sites in southern Rajasthan

An international NGO based in Udaipur invited CleanStar to visit its community development project sites to assess their potential for supporting sustainable bioenergy forestry and clean energy production projects.

The CleanStar team focused on evaluating technical factors and the scope for launching environmental awareness & education programs.

The rocky slopes of the Aravalli range in Udaipur and Rajsamand districts already have large stands of mature Jatropha that have been harvested for several decades. However the seeds are rarely used locally.

The Bankaranja Ashram in Aherwadi, Beed district  showcases CleanStar's tree-planting programs.

By next summer, the grounds of this Ashram near CleanStar's field research site will become a practical training ground for community-based tree planting invoving thousands of people.

The 200 Pongamia and Jatropha trees planted last year are already stirring the curiosity of approximately 10,000 visitors that come to the Ashram every month from around India.

PROCESSING & CLEAN ENERGY PROGRAM

Mobile Oil Processing Unit (MOPU) team visits equipment suppliers in Ahmedabad, Rajkot & Anand

Darshan Doshi and Gaurav Katti led technical visits to several oilseed processing equipment suppliers and leading R&D institutions in Gujarat, including Anand Agriculture University's Bioenergy Department, and SPIRE (the Sardar Patel Institute of Renewable Energy)

The meetings helped advance MOPU prototype development and pilot implementation planning.
