CLEANSTAR IN HAITI

A Haitian nonprofit invited CleanStar to help it assess the potential for launching innovative community-based environmental projects in the island country.

Seva Fumoux and Sagun Saxena travelled to Haiti last month as guests of RHASADE, a local NGO with a strong community presence in rural areas.

During their 10-day structured visit, Seva & Sagun conducted dozens of field visits and meetings to learn about local environmental needs, opportunities and challenges. They met researchers, officials, donors agencies, social entrepreneurs, community-based organisations, environmental NGOs and community members. They compared their findings with recent reports on Haiti.

The team identified several opportunities to immediately leverage CleanStar's technical knowledge and experience to help Haitian groups launch new projects. An MoU was  entered with RHASADE, and discussions initiated with several other local organisations.

A summary of CleanStar's findings and recommendations will be published for general distribution.
